Richard Tregaskis, a war correspondent wounded in 1943 at Cassino, covered the campaigns of 1st Battalion in the Stolberg corridor, and of 2d and 2d Battalion in Aachen one year later. His article, "House to House and Room to Room," appeared in the SATURDAY EVENING POST, edition of Feb 24, 1945. He reported his experiences with F Company, commanded by Captain Ozell Smoot, and describes in detail infantry house-clearing techniques, and tank street-fighting tactics. He mentions Lt. Tragnitz, Sergeants Oster, Roebuck, Patton, and LaCouture, and Privates Gaetke, Kroll, Smith, Lawrence, Veroni, Murphy, Carazzo, Scannell, Croley,and Sutty.
